What I don't know about motorcycles could fill volumes. but I know what I like, and I like what I see here — in a summery, Italian, mid-century-movie-romance kind of way. They got style.
Among the 1400+ pages (yes!) of this 1965 catalog are a few pages of scooters. Montgomery-Ward private-labeled scooters. (apparently made by the Italian company Benelli.) How practical are they? Only one (the one pictured in black and white) has enough horsepower to drive onto a freeway. These are for towing to the beach or tootling around the back streets of Rome.
In under a decade, these underpowered Italian imports would be wiped off the market by Japanese imports, and Monkey Wards would be out of the cyle and scooter business. But they still have a few fans, some of whom can be found on Facebook… https://www.facebook.com/WardsRiverside
